About Me

Lauren Lee is a Washington, DC–based artist and designer whose work explores the intersection of nature, materiality, and the built environment. Raised on Maryland Avenue, her early connection to the city’s native plants and ecosystems continues to inform her practice today.

Inspired by the quiet resilience of moss and the way it blankets and transforms landscapes, Lauren creates biophilic installations using preserved moss to reimagine organic textures, movement, and color within architectural spaces. Her work brings a sense of calm, depth, and natural rhythm into interiors.

Working across mixed media, Lauren incorporates cyanotype and botanical impression techniques to capture the silhouettes of plant life through light and time. These prints often become part of larger collage compositions, layered and reassembled to create immersive visual narratives that reflect growth, memory, and transformation.

Lauren’s background in construction and interior design allows her to approach art at scale—bridging concept, fabrication, and installation. She has completed large-scale installations, including a 100-foot moss wall, designed to enhance energy flow and create a more vibrant, restorative environment.

Her artistic foundation was shaped early on by watching her father create collage and wire-based artwork, instilling in her a lasting appreciation for layered, tactile expression.

Through her work, Lauren seeks to bring the outdoors inward, creating immersive experiences that reconnect people to nature within modern spaces.
